Orpington

The Buff Orpington is a large, docile chicken breed known for its beautiful golden buff feathers and friendly nature. Developed in England in the late 1800s, it was bred for both egg production and meat. These birds have a broad, rounded body and soft, dense plumage that helps them tolerate cold climates.
Hens lay around 200–280 light brown eggs per year and are often broody, making them excellent mothers. Their calm temperament makes them ideal for backyard flocks and families, as they’re easy to handle and get along well with other breeds.
Buff Orpingtons thrive in both free-range and confined environments, adapting well to various conditions. Their combination of productivity, hardiness, and gentle disposition has made them a favorite among poultry keepers. Whether for eggs, meat, or companionship, the Buff Orpington offers a reliable and charming presence in any flock
